Welcome to Modern Counseling Group, founded by licensed therapist Lori Cao, LMFT who is also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Certified Partners Trauma Therapist (CPTT), and certified EMDR Therapist. We offer educational and confidential online workshops tailored to support men navigating sex addiction and infidelity recovery, women moving through their journey of healing from betrayal trauma, and couples working through betrayal and infidelity. 

Please note that while these workshops provide valuable insights and tools, they are not therapy support groups and do not replace working with your own therapist. Workshop for Men: Building Bridges Beyond Betrayal: Tools for Reconciliation & Empathy

If you are struggling with compulsive sexual behaviors, commonly referred to as sex or porn addiction, or intimate betrayal due to a sexual or emotional affair, you’re not alone. Join us for our men’s online workshop, “Building Bridges Beyond Betrayal: Tools for Reconciliation & Empathy” tailored specifically for men who have betrayed their spouses or partners. 

Led by licensed therapist Lori Cao, LMFT, CSAT, CPTT, this educational and supportive workshop provides a safe and confidential space for men to embark on a journey of healing and growth as they learn specific tools to help their spouse or partner heal.

Workshop Details:

Date and Time: Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (with a 1-hour lunch break)  & Saturday, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM CST

Cost: $795 per person for both days. Early Bird Special: Sign up at least 14 days prior to the workshop and receive $100 off.

Attendees: Workshop is closed at 16 attendees to foster communication, confidentiality, safety, and connection.

What You’ll Learn:

Insight Building: Delve into the underlying behaviors and motivations behind your actions to gain deeper self-awareness in understanding the choices you made. 

Building Empathy and Compassion: Explore essential skills for nurturing empathy and compassion towards your betrayed spouse or partner in helping them heal the trauma and pain your spouse or partner is experiencing as a result of the infidelity or sexually compulsive choices. 

Communication Tools: Learn healthy communication tools and skills to foster open and honest dialogue in your relationship with your spouse or partner. Tools that will help you stay grounded during difficult conversations, tools to help de-escalate a potential argument, and tools to help you create connection with your hurting spouse or partner during the healing process. 

Shame Reduction: Shame is often at the root for men who have betrayed their spouse or partner. During our time together you will discover strategies for reducing shame and rebuilding self-trust and respect, and relationship trust in the aftermath of betrayal.

Small Group Practice: Engage in supportive small group activities and exercises facilitated by therapist Lori Cao to practice newly acquired skills in a safe environment.

Workshop for Women: Healing from Betrayal: A Woman’s Path to Restoration and Renewal

If you are an adult woman who has been wounded by your spouse or partner’s infidelity or sexually compulsive or addictive behaviors, if you have been deceived or gaslighted by your significant other, you’re not alone. You deserve a safe space to be heard, supported, and to  learn and grow with other women who understand the trauma and pain of betrayal. 

Join us for our women’s online workshop, “Healing from Betrayal: A Woman’s Path to Restoration and Renewal” tailored specifically for women who have been betrayed by their spouses or partners. 

Led by licensed therapist Lori Cao, LMFT, CSAT, CPTT, this educational and supportive workshop provides a safe and confidential space for women to come together, connect, learn and practice tools, and grow in a confidential and compassionate educational workshop environment as they move forward in their healing.

  1. Validating and Understanding Betrayal Trauma: Participants will gain a deeper understanding of betrayal trauma, including its emotional, psychological, and physical impact on betrayed women. This includes recognizing the symptoms and validating their experiences.
  2. Navigating Anger, Grief and Loss of Trust: Women will learn how to navigate the complex emotions of grief and loss associated with the impact of infidelity. The workshop will provide a safe space for expressing and processing these emotions, fostering a sense of validation and support.
  3. Setting Healthy Boundaries: Participants will gain insights into the importance of setting and maintaining healthy boundaries and how to allow for consequences. The workshop will guide women in establishing boundaries that promote emotional safety and well-being, helping to prevent further harm.
  4. Coping Strategies: Women will learn and practice effective coping strategies to manage the emotional aftermath of betrayal trauma triggers. This includes developing and implementing healthy coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety.
  5. Supporting Self Care:The workshop aims to empower women by fostering self-love and supporting and increasing self-worth and value. 
  6. Building a Support System: Women will learn the importance of building a strong support system. This includes fostering connections with others who have experienced similar challenges, as well as seeking professional help when needed. The workshop aims to reduce isolation and provide a sense of community.
  7. Steps in Moving Forward: The workshop is a place for women to gain confidence in making empowered decisions about their relationships, whether it involves reconciliation, separation, or any other path. Participants will explore their values, needs, and priorities to make informed choices aligned with their well-being while exploring ways to move forward with resilience and strength.

Workshop for Couples: Healing Hearts, Rebuilding Relationships: Recovering Together After Infidelity & Betrayal

If you are a couple who has been impacted by the trauma of infidelity, sex addiction, and betrayal, join us for our couple’s online workshop, tailored specifically for couples who would like to move forward in their healing journey after the devastating and traumatic impact of intimate betrayal or infidelity. 

Led by licensed therapist Lori Cao, LMFT, CSAT, CPTT, this educational and supportive workshop provides a safe and confidential space for couples to support their process of healing and growth as they learn specific tools to help build deeper empathy and understanding for the betrayed spouse or partner, as the betraying partner deepens insight and understanding into their behavior that has wounded their spouse, while learning steps to rebuild trust and respect.

Workshop Details:

Date and Time: Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST (with a 1-hour lunch break) & Saturday, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM CST

What You’ll Learn:

Certainly, here are five learning objectives for your workshop:

  1. Understanding the Impact: Couples will gain insights into the emotional and psychological impact of infidelity and betrayal trauma on the betrayed spouse, as well as the betraying partner with a focus on fostering empathy and facilitating open communication about their individual experiences.
  2. Communication Skills: Couples will learn effective communication strategies to express their emotions, needs, and concerns, creating a safe space for dialogue. This includes active listening techniques and the ability to navigate difficult conversations without escalating conflicts.
  3. Setting Boundaries and Expectations:  Couples will learn how to establish healthy boundaries and realistic expectations to create a secure environment for both partners. This includes discussions about personal space, privacy, and mutual respect in the context of rebuilding the relationship.
  4. Early Steps for Rebuilding Trust: The workshop will provide practical tools and exercises to help couples rebuild early steps toward trust. Participants will explore trust-building exercises and develop a roadmap for first steps for rebuilding the foundation of their relationship with honesty, transparency, and commitment.
  5. Managing Triggers and Emotions: Couples will learn coping mechanisms to manage triggers and intense emotions associated with betrayal trauma, fostering emotional regulation and resilience in navigating challenging moments.
  6. Developing Coping Strategies: Participants will acquire coping mechanisms to navigate emotional triggers and manage the ongoing challenges that may arise during the healing process. This includes exploring stress-reduction techniques and developing resilience as a couple.
  7. Creating a New Relationship Narrative:Through guided exploration, participants will work towards reframing their relationship narrative, focusing on strengths, growth opportunities, and shared goals, ultimately fostering a renewed sense of connection, commitment, and intimacy.

Lori Cao, LMFT is a licensed therapist with certifications in sex addiction (CSAT), partner’s betrayal trauma (CPTT), Couple’s Betrayal Recovery (CBRT), and EMDR trauma therapy. With over 15 years of experience in the field, Lori is dedicated to providing support and guidance to individuals and couples seeking healing and reconciliation from sexual addictions and betrayal trauma..

This workshop is educational, it is a non-therapy/non-clinical workshop in order to support men in their journey towards betrayal reconciliation, skill building, and empathy. It is open to participants from all over the United States.
